A Look Ahead: Energy Efficiency, and Spielberg

Every Sunday, Sharon Patch will highlight some of the events happening during the coming week. So if you're looking for something fun or interesting to do, or a cause to support, you'll find some ideas right here.
Monday:
The Sharon Garden Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Sharon Adult Center and Council on Aging. The group will learn about home composting – the basics of how to do it, why it's important, and the different types of composting including on-site, off-site and worm composting.
And a program on creating a more energy efficient home will be held at 7 p.m. at the Sharon Public Library. Representatives from the Sustainable Sharon Coalition, MassEnergy, and Next Step Living Inc. will offer ways to easily create a more comfortable and efficient home, and reduce energy bills.
Tuesday:
The Sharon Board of Selectmen meets at 7 p.m. at the Sharon Town Offices.
Wednesday:
The Sharon public schools has a strategic planning focus group scheduled for 7 p.m. in the school committee meeting room at Sharon Middle School. The steering committee seeks feedback about the strengths and weaknesses of the school district, as well as the vision, mission, and goals that should guide the Sharon public schools for the next several years.
Thursday:
An opening reception for "Capturing the Past – Preserving the Future," the Mass Audubon's Moose Hill Wildlife Gallery's new exhibit, will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. with guest speakers and artists commenting on the work and life of Robert W. Lesieur (1918-2008). The exhibit will run from Feb. 2 to March 27.
The Sharon public schools will hold an all-town strings concert at 7 p.m. in the Sharon Middle School gymnasium.
Friday:
"Rahel, Anna Margolin and Lea Goldberg: Religious Imagery in Hebrew and Yiddish Poems by Russian Jewish Poets" will be held at 8 p.m. at Temple Adath Sharon. There will be readings in Hebrew and Yiddish of selected poems by three Russian Jewish poets. English translations will be provided, and participants will discuss religious imagery in the poems.
The Sharon High School Theatre Company's Student-Directed Plays will be performed at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday in the school auditorium.
Saturday:
The Temple Israel of Sharon Brotherhood will present a Steven Spielberg and Auction Kick-off Night at 7:30 p.m. The brotherhood will explore Spielberg's life and how his Jewish roots influenced his films such as Raiders of the Lost Ark and Schindler's List. There will be also be a silent and mini-live auction in conjunction with the annual Brotherhood Online Auction.
