Sharon Webelos Do Well at Klondike Derby
Sharon fourth- and fifth-grade Webelos Cub Scouts competed with other Packs in the Old Colony Council district-wide Klondike Derby at Camp Norse in Kingston on Feb. 4.
In the morning, scouts made rotations at eight timed stations that tested their skills, including the rescue and administering of first aid to an injured person, knots-tying in varying situations, the rescue of a person in the water, patrol snow-shoeing and buck-sawing, frisbee-throwing relay, blind-folded tent-pitching, and campfire building.
Scouts were scored on achievement and teamwork.
The Sharon Webelos Patrol "Centaurs" placed first. In the afternoon sled race, the "Centaurs" finished a close second.
