SHARON HIGH SCHOOL - SCHOOL COUNCIL ELECTION

Sharon High School - School Council Election
On October 11, 2012, the Sharon High School PTSO will be running the official election for this year’s SHS School Council. Sharon High School has a functioning and representative School Council that convenes on a regular basis during each school year. Co-led by the principal, the group includes several students, parents, faculty, and community members. Its primary purpose is to serve as a vehicle for assisting the principal in the development of the school’s annual improvement plan. To that end, it calls for the inclusive participation of various stake holders, who are willing and able to provide different perspectives about the school’s needs.

We have one opening for a parent and one opening for a community representative (not a SHS parent) for School Council, both with two year terms. Any parent/community rep interested in running for School Council is required to submit a brief written statement of intent to the PTSO President, Karen Birnbaum, ptsoprez@shsptso.com. The statement of intent should state why they want to be on the School Council and why their participation would be beneficial to the School Council. The statements of intent will be published in the Advocate and Patch on September 29th and will be posted outside the Auditorium during the Open House. All those attending the Open House will be eligible to vote for two candidates.

If you would like to learn more about the SHS School Council, please go to the Sharon High School website and click on the “Principal’s Corner”.

All Statements of Intent should be directed to the ptsoprez@shsptso.com no later than 6pm, September 23 to meet the Sharon Advocate’s  and Sharon Patch's publishing deadline.
